Very vigorous tree, with habit remaining dense without maintenance. Fine foliage, dark green in summer (good shade tree) and beautiful autumn colors.
The species angustifolia is sensitive to Chalarose (Ash Dieback), and should therefore be avoided in areas where the disease is present (Eastern Europe, North).
FRAXINUS angustifolia is a species native to the Mediterranean regions of Europe and Asia. Its subspecies oxycarpa, of which 'Raywood' is a selection, comes from the Caucasus. FRAXINUS angustifolia 'Raywood' (syn. F. oxycarpa 'Flame') has very thin leaflets, and especially sumptuous autumnal colors ranging from purple to violet. It is a cultivar of great vigor, keeping a very dense ovoid shape, even without pruning.
