Large vigorous shrub, perfect in mixed hedge, with a beautiful bright flowering scented in late spring.
Every 2-3 years, just after flowering (July), prune the shrub below the floriferous parts to cause vigorous growth of new branches, which will give the flowers the following year.
The virginalis hybrids were first obtained by Victor Lemoine (Nancy) in the early XXth century. 'Natchez' is a selection of Alfred Rehder (Arnold Arboretum, Harvard University, Boston) with large arched branches. Its deciduous leaves are oval, light green. In late spring, lots of half-double flowers appear, usually with 8 petals, pure white ∅ 4-5 cm, quite fragrant, grouped by 3-4.
