Dark purple colored spikes, 3 to 4 cm high, appear in April-May, with short sterile petals (about 1 cm) purplish purple. The floral stems are quite short, which keeps the compact silhouette of the shrub. In good conditions, a second flowering takes place in September.
Prune very short after flowering (June), above the 3-4 lowest green shoots on the branches but never back to the old wood, to keep a harmonious shape. With this pruning once a year, French Lavender can live 10-12 years.
