Rejuvenate the shrub every 4-5 years by pruning the oldest branches at the base.
Large deciduous shrub developing arched branches from the base. The young shoots are hairy, purplish, then develop small green leaves, becoming purple in summer with dry weather and in autumn. In spring, a multitude of small pink tubular flowers with dark exterior appear, and cover the shrub.
