This shrub tolerates all conditions of soil and exposure. A symbol of Christmas, this variety produces a lot of fruits and is harvested to make crowns. It is also widely used in hiding and defensive hedgerows, in North or continental climates.
The plant tolerates regular pruning (at least once a year) and can form compact hedges in difficult conditions (tolerates pollution or spray).
Indigenous shrub or small undergrowth tree, interesting for its rusticity, the Holly is a solid plant, with varnished leaves dark green, evergreen, thorny. 'Alaska' is a female clone, producing many bright red berries. Its leaves are very thorny, darker green than the type.
