Beautiful dark blue color in acid soil, with fairly early flowering. Greenish when fading.
The color of the flowers is very dependent on the pH and the composition of the soil. The more the soil is acidic and in the presence of aluminum (sulphate of alumina, shale), the more the flowers will be purple to bluish.
Hydrangea of medium development, obtained in Germany by Auguste Steiniger (1946). Inflorescences in balls mauve or blue depending on the soil pH, appearing on the wood of the previous year.
