Remarks

Needs to be staked when young. In the garden, prune 2 to 3 times per year minimum, without cutting back in old wood. A regular pruning is necessary to control the vigor of the plant.

Natural intergeneric hybrid between Cupressus macrocarpa and Chamaecyparis nootkatensis (syn. Xanthocyparis nootkatensis), Leyland Cypress was obtained in the 19th century in England. Due to its strong vigor, it quickly became a basic element of hiding hedges, particularly in oceanic climate. The cultivar 'Haggerston Gray' is one of the original six seedlings of the first Leyland Cypress (1888). It is a pyramidal clone with bluish green foliage.
