Twisted branches are highly visible in winter. Yellow drooping catkins, which appear in January, are an attraction of the garden at that time.

Remarks

The branches are used in floral art.

Spontaneous tortuous mutation of Common Hazel, propagated by graft on it.

European shrub or small tree with multiple trunks forming a tuft of 10-12 branches up to 3-4 m. The leaves are deciduous, heart-shaped toothed with a tip. Male catkins of 6 cm, yellowish, appear in February-March ; female flowers spikes are erected.

The hazelnut is an edible fruit. It contains a single seed, the almond. It is protected by an involucre before maturity (bracts).
