Long flowering plant very drought resistant once established. Typical of Mediterranean gardens.
Cultivate in pots in USDA zone <8. The reflowering is promoted by the removal of fruits and summer irrigation.
This evergreen shrub, native to southern Australia, has remarkable scarlet red bottlebrush-like spikes 10-15 cm long, from mid-April until summer. The young shoots are cherry red in spring. Pruning is required after flowering to maintain the compactness of the plant.
