Evergreen shrub with large glossy lanceolate leaves, medium green. Its shape is erected, compact, with larger leaves than the type. Young shoots are copper, followed in April-May by clusters of white flowers, fruiting in small purple cherries in late summer.
One of the most used hedge species in Northern Europe.
