Main asset
An exceptional purple, which remains very dark even in summer and contrasts with young tender green leaves. Gold Medal Plantarium Boskoop 2006.
Remarks
Requires sufficient summer heat to grow as a tree (mediterranean climates). In cooler summers, grows well as shrub (terraces, balconies).
Coming from Japan, this plant was obtained in 1990 as the result of a selection program carried out by Dr MASATO YOKOI. Dark purple foliage exceptional in summer. The green young shoots harmoniously contrast with the purple throughout the season as they unfold themselves like young fern fronds. Under the sunrays, the green and purple compete in a play of light ans shade. Pink flowers.
