A light pruning in March will keep a very compact form.
This evergreen shrub is a new ground-cover, never sick. Selected in the US, it is a hybrid between Distylium myricoides x Distylium racemosus.
It tolerates drought and heat, and is therefore an excellent alternative to current groundcovers (Prunus laurocerasus 'Zabeliana' or 'Mount Vernon'). Bronze in spring, the long, narrow leaves become then matt blue-green all other seasons.
The red flower bud evolve in small cream flowers, in April.
