A black plant, illuminated by its pink flowers and red fruits. To associate with light plants, in white or yellow tones, to create a striking contrast. Can also be grown as a single stem plant.

This Physocarpus comes from a seedling selection from 'Diabolo', by John JONES of HYFRYD PLANTS Nurseries (UK). The shrub is medium-size (1.80 m = 6 ft), very cold resistant. The leaves are black from spring to summer, the darkest of all Physocarpus. Flowering, light pink and white, contrasts with the leaves, as well as the bright red fruits. The old bark is exfoliated and reveals shades of red and brown.
