After the growth of young orange shoots in spring, large ovoid flower buds appear, then burst to let the umbel grow.

Climber with evergreen foliage, native to the Mexican mountains, clinging alone to its support by adventitious roots. Its young shoots, vigorous, are orange, then the foliage becomes glossy dark green. The spring flowering is in the form of flat umbels (lacecap) of small fertile flowers, surrounded by large sterile white flowers.
